STRUCTURE

DGAL is headed by a Director who oversees the functions of the Directorate through three department which are

• Criminalistics and Laboratory services
• Quality and Chemical verification
• Regional Laboratories.

The Department of Criminalistics and Laboratory Services has four division laboratories namely; 

• Forensic Biology
• Toxicology
• Firearms and Tool marks
• Questioned Documents and Digital Forensics

The department of Quality and Chemical verification has four division laboratories namely;

• Food and Drugs
• Water and Environment
• Chemical Microbiology and Bioterrorism
• Pesticide Residue Laboratory

The Department of Regional Laboratories comprises of regional laboratories in Mbale, Mbarara, Gulu, and Moroto. These serve to bring services nearer to the people.
