Trafficking in Persons (TIP)-Definition

“The recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation”-

Sec 21-PTIP ACT;

Mandates Minister to Designate Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Office responsible for: 

  • Coordination

  • Monitoring

  • Overseeing the implementation of the ACT

  • Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development.
  • Uganda Police Force.
  • Labor Officers.
  • Internal Security Officers.
  • Coordination Office for prevention of Trafficking in Persons, Ministry of Internal Affairs
  • Other responsible authorities.
